WELCOME TO HOOD RIVER COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT! Substitutes are needed for the 2026/27 school year. We are needing substitute (guest) teachers to work intermittently, as needed, when our regular staff are absent. See more information below. Please plan to attend the Annual Substitute Inservice on August 24, 2026, 8AM to noon at Hood River Valley High School. No registration required - open to new and returning substitutes. Current requirements for Substitute/Guest Teachers (TSPC teaching license): Valid Oregon teaching license (https://www.oregon.gov/tspc/Pages/index.aspx) Electronic Application with letters of reference Onboarding paperwork Annual mandatory trainings Criminal background check Sexual misconduct reference check with prior educational employers (if any) Note: Substitutes should not expect to be called to work during recognized school breaks (Winter, Spring, Summer breaks). Substitute/Guest teachers are paid for either 4 hours or 8 hours/day. The 26/27 rate of pay is $236.26 for a full day or $118.12 for a half-day.
