PLAYGROUND ASSISTANT, BANKS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, .4937 FTE, 2026-27 IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR School Administrator GENERAL DUTIES Playground aides monitor the activity and behavior of students on the playground. They work with as many as 200 children with another playground aide. This position also keeps playground equipment in good order and communicates with the office for ordering new equipment. Must be detail-oriented, able to multi-task and collaborate with coworkers. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. Two years of postsecondary education or an associate's (or higher) degree, or a District approved academic assessment, is required At least 18 years of age or older Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively with students, parents and teachers Ability to follow general oral and written instructions Skill in the use of office machines Reasonable knowledge of the basic elements of the teaching process and classroom management Familiarity with computer keyboard and word processing First Aid certification is required Ability to work independently and take initiative in task performance General office procedure skills that include good written and oral communication and computer skills Medication administration certificate may be required Able to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds Have standards of moral character as required of teachers The ability to work harmoniously with others ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise students at recess to ensure a safe environment Keeps playground equipment in good order and communicates with the office for ordering new equipment Dispense student medication as per District procedures as needed Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment Banks School District believes that every individual makes a significant contribution to our success.
